Plus Size and Perfect

REALITY CHECK: have you ever truly loved your body? I sure haven't.

I've been thinking about this a lot (uh-oh). I'll look through old cheer pictures and see my body as trim, fit and beautiful; but, if you had asked me at the time, I would have told you I was a hideous wide-load. Harsh, right?

Let's get real...I've never seen my body as beautiful, not even once. I've never looked in the mirror and been proud of the skin I am in. That is a serious problem.

I've grown so bitter towards my body that I fear dressing rooms, binge eat food, and even avoid social situations (which is so not my personality). As my body expands so does my excuses, fears, and disappointments.

LET'S CHANGE: I was scrolling through my Instagram feed comparing myself to all of the perfect people's lives when I found this plus size fashion blogger...boy was I inspired. She was beautiful in every sense of the word.

She dressed in all the latest fashion trends (which I had convinced myself was impossible if you are larger than a size 12). So, I'm thinking that maybe for me ... health and fitness will be a result of loving my body because loving my body has not been a result of health and fitness.

Starting today, I am making myself a promise to love my body just the way it is...right now...at this weight...wearing this size.

So, if I want to wear fashion-forward geo print leggings then dang it I WILL!

Blue Bonnets 2014 Favorites | Behind the Scenes

PTL I'm becoming more cultured. I recently learned in an office discussion that if you aren't native to Texas you probably don't know what a blue bonnet is let alone have the urge to frolic around in a field of them while taking killer pics.

Let me enlighten you. Us Texans have an OBSESSION with blue bonnets and most of us take pictures in them yearly. The beautiful, unique flowers only bloom for a short season of time and are gone before you know it. They are elusive little devils.

Anyways, my sister and I go to the same field every year to take pictures of my darling nieces. This year we wanted to beat the crowd (because no one likes an empty, body shape patch of dirt in their pictures where some other crazed photographer laid down to take pictures) so we could have the field to ourselves and avoid trampled blooms.

We went after/during a rain. While we left covered in mud the gorgeous sunset and Texas sky was worth the mess, Plus, any good photographer never lets the disgusting weather stop them.

Below you will find my favorite shots. I only do this for fun so don't be to critical ya jerks.

No doubt in my mind; this is my favorite photo. It is so natural. So beautiful.

Any shot where the girls are running wild and free I am going to love. Duh.

This one I love because it truly captures the essence of sisters.

So soft. So pretty.

It couldn't be harder to be four. This one has such an Alice in Wonderland feel and I love it.

If anyone needs an album cover .... this is it.

Love the gold orb in this one. Makes me think Angels are always with us.

Who can resist this face? No one.

This is your typical blueby shot and I'm okay with that.

More of that sweet sibling love.

Just stop being a beautiful, super-model four year old. I cant take it.

Again I say, Just stop being a beautiful, super-model five year old. It makes people feel awkward.

While I HATE the cars photo bombing, I love that kids are never afraid to just throw their hands up and run around screaming their joy.

The epitome of the perfect spin. Good luck trying to achieve that.

 Moody. Compelling. Sweet.

Don't worry, I brought Pippa with and took pictures of her as well. Here are my favsies:

Smiling Pippa. She obviously leads a charmed life.

Always listening to me super intently.

She cant resist taking a few model shots. She knows she's beautiful.

Well that's all for now. I would say I'm going to be better about blogging consistently but I can't be held to that. Plus, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who gets a kick out of it. God only knows. Go read your Bible.

**Share your favorite blue bonnet photos in the comments below (human OR animal). I'd love to see them and I'd also love to know we aren't the only family that obsesses this time of year.

Lots of Love,
Kate

Top 5 2013 Moments

A day late and a dollar short.

I intended on posting this January first of 2014 but you cant win 'em all. Am I right? Anywho, I can't believe 2013 is over. I spent some time thinking about the year and praying into the new year. I think it is really important to take time to acknowledge the best moments in life, here are the five greatest things that happened (in no particular order):

1. Gavin DeGraw Concert: I finally got to see my boo thang Gavin live in concert!! I've loved him since 9th grade and seeing him live was better then I ever imagined. I saw him in Dallas with Kim Kim and it was a dream come true. Also, boyfriend sang directly to me as you can see in the image. Life complete.

2. Graduated from ACU: What? Basically, I don't even remember this happening. My last semester at ACU was a big huge blur. Lets see, in one semester I moved in with Anna who ended up being one of my all time dearest friends, was diagnosed with and recieved treatment for anxiety, came face to face with a perve who had been peeking in my window,      participated in siggie and senior sing song (and won), and so much more. It was a beautiful ending to a tumultuous season of life.

3. Met Pippa: Pippa is the puppy that stole my heart. I rescued her outside of Walmart and love her more and more every day. She is the smartest little thing and I love to teach her new tricks. She graduated from puppy class and intermediate class and is working her way towards becoming a canine good citizen. She has stolen my heart and inspires me daily.

4. My Best Friends Wedding:  I got the honor of standing beside my best friend of 10 years as she married the man of her dreams. It was surreal giving a toast at her reception. i will savor every moment from the engagement party to sending the couple off on their honeymoon.

5. Started Working for the Man: I graduated from college and started work in the Dirty D. It was a crazy wonderful experience. I got to meet a real life mariache band, hang with good looking sports radio announcers, meet amazing people (aka Chelsea),  and learn the ins and outs of public relations. Not only that but I got to minister to people on the DART, which was amazing.

Cheers to 2013 y'all.

Lots of Love,
Kate

DIY Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

Meet Pippa. She is my inspiration for all dog related adventures.

One of these days I will get my act together and write about how I got Pippa but until then just settle for knowing that I've never loved anything more than I love her.  I do alot of training with Pippa, fingers crossed she will turn out to be well behaved. Regardless, it can be so expensive to stay stocked on training treats. I've found that Pippa is primarily a play motivated dog but she is also food motivated so I ventured in to the world of baking for dogs.  In this post I will share one recipe that I make that all the puppies LOVE.

Let me start by sharing these adorable dog bone cookie cutters I got. I think they were $5-$6 on amazon (aka a sick deal) and they come with four different sizes. I'm obsessed.

The wonderful thing about this recipe is that it only requires FOUR INGREDIENTS, and you probably have most of them in your pantry right now. All you need is:

2 Tablespoons of Unsweetened Applesauce
1/2 Cup of Creamy Peanut Butter (natural is best)
1 Cup of Water
3 Cups of Whole Wheat Flour

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. the great thing about this recipe is its simplicity. All you need to do is put the ingredients in a bowl and mix (I used my hands because the dough is really thick).

Once the dough is evenly mixed, roll out and use your adorable cookie cutters to make shapes. You can use any shape cookie cutter, don't feel like it has to be shaped like a bone. I did halloween themed dog cookies this year to be fun and festive. You can also use a pizza cutter and make quick and easy squares.

Once they are cut, place them on a pan and cook for 20 minutes.

Waiting was the hardest part for Pippa.

Let them cool for 10 minutes and then they are ready to enjoy!!

The dogs love these simple treats and the recipe makes enough to last an entire month. If you have any questions or just want to praise my work, comment below.

Christ Church and The Roman Baths

The past two weeks have flown by. I have done and seen so much and am so beyond blessed to be in this place that ignites creativity and inspiration at every turn. The first place I am featuring is Christ Church. If you really know me you know that I am literally obsessed with Harry Potter. this church is where the film producers not only were inspired for the set but also did a lot of filming on the campus. So here are some pics from my adventure.

After Seeing this ceiling full of beautiful crests I am going to hunt down my family crest and turn it into some super rad giant ring and plaster all over the walls/ceilings of my future home. Try not to be to jealous of my idea.

If this area doesn't look slightly familiar to you then you are clearly not a Harry Potter fan.

These two pictures are of Tom's Tower and Toms gate. I do not remember why they are called that but, hey, at least I remembered their name. History is hard.

They had these big huge awkward fish in the pond that apparently never get fed because they kept pulling this manuever. Poor little babies.

"I am my Beloveds and my beloved is mine, he grazes among the lilies" Song of Solomon  6:3

The two pictures above feature the ceiling of Christ Church. Our tour guide was so amazing and I found this piece of information truly fascinating. From far away the ceiling appears to be arched but when you get right underneath it you see that it is actually flat and the arch is an allusion they created to make the church look bigger. Would I have noticed this on my own? Probably not.

I have a new obsession with stained glass. New item recently added to my bucket list is to make a stained glass window. On the real though, I learned that this isn't actually stained glass, but instead it is painted glass.

Mary and Jesus. I learned so much stuff about this awesome window but I didn't retain much. I can't help it, I can only hold a certain amount of history until my brain gets all confused. BUT what I do recall is that once when this window was being transferred, Baby Jesus broke. the people who restored him did a horrible job. You can clearly see that his rear end and face were reconstructed and failed to match up with the quality of the rest of the window. I also remember that, Mary is holding a thorn berry and Jesus is holding a picture of the city. This was a play on words the artist created to show where the window was created. I hope I got my facts right.

This window is actually pretty fascinating. It has naughty pictures up at the very top where the common viewer cannot quite make them out. The artist did this knowing that no one would ever be able to look at it up close. Well that was before they had cameras with zoom lenses. I wont share the secret, you will have to go to Canterbury to find out.

Hanging at the steps where they filmed HP.

Oh Em Gee. This is the Great Hall. They didn't film any Harry Potter here but it was the inspiration for the bigger great hall seen in all of the movies. The students of the college eat in here everyday. I am so jealous.

More supa exciting Harry Potter stuff. This is where they shot several scenes from Harry Potter.

Our tour guide was so awesome, she took us to see the colleges private gardens.

Now while this place is full of Harry Potter stuff, it actually has a lot to do with Alice and Wonderlands inspiration. This is the door that inspired Lewis and Carroll. The garden also home to the cheshire cat's tree. Our tour guide said that Lewis Carroll was a student at Christ Church and later a teacher. His office was in the library and his window held a view of this door and garden. I've found that here in Oxford as I'm writing papers and doing homework in my room, I constantly catch myself daydreaming out the window. So, it  makes sense that he would be inspired by this. Christ church is also where Lewis Carroll, or Charles Dodgson, met Alice and her two sisters. They were little girls and he would always have them in his office and play with them and take pictures of them. The girls were daughters of the dean. After being here and learning about Lewis Carroll I am really starting to believe he was a weirdo pedophile but I cant be certain.

So that ends my wealth of knowledge on Christ Church. It was such an amazing place and I am so thankful that I got to see it. For all you Harry Potter fans out there, don't worry because I am going to tour the actual filming studio tomorrow in London, stay tuned.

On a completely different day, I traveled to the city of Bath it was a small group consisting of the teachers, myself, and two other students. It was a great trip. I didn't learn as much here as I did in Christ Church Oops. Here is what I saw.

As much as I would like to say that I am an awesome photographer and planned this picture, I really didn't. It was a total accident. I was trying to take a picture of the giant set of chess because it reminded me off Harry Potter and I ended up getting a picture that I love. The faces of the kids are so priceless.

The guy in the two pictures above was legit insane. In both of these pictures he is riding those stupid unicycles with one foot. The first one he is holding some rando kid while in the second one he is ten feet high and juggling flaming torches. This show was seriously so entertaining. He was so funny and really good at what he did.

I also got to go to a fashion museum in Bath. It was absolutely incredible. It featured the highest quality, cutting edge fashion from today and even way back to the medieval times. It was such a cool place. I wish I could have spent more time there.

My trip to Bath was truly wonderful. The Baths were incredibly beautiful and truly fascinating. I cant believe I only have three days left in this magical place. Coming up in my future posts will be several really exciting things: my pictures from Rome, an Olympic game, Harry Potter filming studio, and more. So stay tuned.

Lots of Love
Katy
